FX’s “Very Young Frankenstein” Cast Revealed
Disney’s FX Productions is developing a new pilot for “Very Young Frankenstein”, which has been inspired by the 20th Century Studios film by Mel Brooks, “Young Frankenstein”.
No plot details for the show have been revealed, but the original film was a parody of Universal monster movies from the ’30s and ’40s. It told the story of what happened several years after living down his family’s reputation. Frankenstein inherits his grandfather’s castle, where he discovers a book full of his grandfather’s experiments and starts reworking them.
According to Deadline, the pilot is going to star Zach Galifianakis, Cary Elwes, Dolly Wells, Spencer House, Nikki Crawford, and Kumail Nanjiani.
It will be executive produced by Mel Brooks, along with some of the creatives behind FX’s hit series, “What We Do in the Shadows”, Stefani Robinson, who will be writing and showrunning the pilot, with Garrett Basch and Taika Waititi, who will direct the pilot. Other executive producers include Kevin Salter, who previously worked on Hulu’s “History of the World, Part 2” and the forthcoming “Spaceballs” sequel, along with “Young Frankenstein” producer Michael Gruskoff.
20th Television is developing the pilot, and if the project is picked up for a series, we can expect to see it available on Hulu and Disney+.
