FX’s “English Teacher” Renewed For A Second Season
Last year, FX released a brand new comedy series called “English Teacher”, which stars Brian Jordan Alvarez as “Evan Marquez,” a high school teacher in Austin, Texas, who often finds himself at the intersection of the personal, professional and political aspects of working at a high school. Evan wants to be a principled person but often runs into trouble because of it.
Disney has announced that FX has renewed the hit comedy series “English Teacher” for a second season. The season will consist of ten episodes and premiere later this year.
Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, said in a statement regarding the renewal:
“English Teacher was one of the most critically acclaimed new shows of 2024 and we are grateful to the producers, writers, cast, directors and crew for the show’s creative excellence. We look forward to the new season.”
“English Teacher’s” first season has received three Critics Choice Awards nominations, including Best Comedy Series, and four nominations for the Film Independent Spirit Awards, including Best New Scripted Series. The show has also received two Writers Guild Award nominations for New Series and Episodic Comedy. It is one of the best-reviewed shows of the year, earning a spot on numerous critics’ year-end Top 10 lists, including being rated the #1 Best Show of the Year by both Decider and Consequence. “English Teacher’s” first season has a Rotten Tomatoes Certified Fresh score of 98% and a Metacritic Must Watch score of 83.
The series also stars Stephanie Koenig, Enrico Colantoni, Sean Patton and Carmen Christopher. FX’s “English Teacher” is executive produced by Alvarez, Paul Simms, Jonathan Krisel, Dave King, Kathryn Dean, Jake Bender and Zach Dunn. “English Teacher” is produced by FX Productions.
The first season of “English Teacher” is available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ around the world.
Roger’s Take: I’m glad to see this series is returning for another season as I did enjoy it and it’s great to see Disney giving this show enough time to establish itself, which doesn’t happen too often with comedies nowadays.
