FX & Searchlight Pictures Developing A New Series Based On “The Full Monty”
Disney’s FX and Searchlight Pictures are developing a brand new series that will be a continuation of the British comedy film “The Full Monty”.
The original Searchlight Pictures film centred around six unemployed steelworkers in Northern England who got together to form a male striptease act to make some quick money. Dave is now in his 50’s and a janitor at a high school, and married to one of the teachers. Gaz is a down-on-his-luck father of a 17-year-old named Destiny. His self-indulgence makes him a poor mentor, and he isn’t above cheating others to get by. He continues to maintain his unique sense of humour even though he’s broke, and he’s passed on some of these traits to his daughter.
Robert Carlyle, Mark Addy and Tom Wilkinson will be returning to star in the new FX series.
Alice Nutter will be writing the series. She has previously worked on FX’s “Trust” and multiple BBC shows, including “Casualty”, “Justice” and “The Street”.
The film’s original producer, Uberto Pasolini, and the film’s writer, Simon Beaufoy, will be producers on the series.
The original “Full Monty” film is available on Disney+ in many countries, including the UK.
No release details have yet been revealed, such as when it will be released. We should expect to see this series on Hulu/FX in the United States and released on Disney+ internationally.
