With the sixth and final season of FX’s “Snowfall” coming to a close in April, according to Deadline, FX is now in the early stages of development of a spin-off series that could see Gail Bean reprising her role of Wanda.

“Snowfall” is a drama set against the infancy of the crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles and its ultimate radical impact on the culture as we know it. The story follows numerous characters on a violent collision course, including Franklin Saint, a young street entrepreneur on a quest for power; Gustavo “El Oso” Zapata, a Mexican wrestler caught up in a power struggle within a crime family; Teddy McDonald, a CIA operative running from a dark past who begins an off-book operation to fund the Nicaraguan Contras; and Lucia Villanueva, the self-possessed daughter of a Mexican crime lord. In Snowfall, everyone is working toward their ultimate goals of money, power, and influence in Los Angeles.

With the potential spin-off still in the very early stages of development, it’s unknown if any other characters from the original could also appear in the new show. Gail Bean’s Wanda character would serve as a connective tissue between the original series and the spinoff.

“Snowfall” has been created by John Singleton & Eric Amadio and Dave Andron, Snowfall is executive produced by Singleton, Andron, Thomas Schlamme, Amadio, Michael London, Trevor Engelson, Walter Mosley, Julie DeJoie and John LaBrucherie. Damson Idris also serves as Producer. Andron serves as showrunner.

The first five seasons, along with some episodes from the latest season are available to stream now on Hulu in the United States. The previous five seasons are also available to stream in many countries internationally on Disney+.
