FX Developing New Pilot “Witness Protection”
Disney’s FX is developing a new pilot, which is currently going by the working title of “Witness Protection” and tells the story of what happens when a violent confrontation drives a high-end D.C. madam to turn on her partner and enter witness protection in seaside Maine with her adolescent daughter.
Deadline has revealed that Alison Brie has joined the cast in the lead role. Alison has previously starred in “G.L.O.W” and “Community”.
The pilot is being created by Hannah Fidell and Gina Welch, who previously worked on FX’s “Clipped”, who will be co-showrunners, writers and executive producers. Hannah will be directing the pilot, with Nicole Lambert of Riverain Pictures also executive producing the show.
Originally, David Chase was attached to the project, but he has had to step away to film a movie.
As with any pilot, things could easily change, such as actors’ or creative decisions, depending on the internal feedback on the pilot. Should the pilot get picked up for a series, we should expect to see it released on the FX channel, along with Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally.
