Disney’s FX has ordered a pilot for a new animated comedy series called ” The Trenches”, which is an animated half-hour show about a modern family of monster hunters.

The show is being created by Drew Goddard, who has previously worked on “Daredevil”, “Bad Times at the El Royale “, “Alias”, and “Lost”.   This project is being created as part of his overall multi-year deal at Disney’s ABC Signature Studios, which means he writes, creates, directs and develops new TV series for the studio across all platforms.

He will be an executive producer on the show along with Sarah Esberg for Goddard Textiles. Drew is also working on another project called, “Phony”, a half-hour project from Marcel the Shell with Shoes On co-writer Nick Paley, which will also be released on Disney’s streaming services.

The show will be created by 20th Television Animation, who are also behind major hits like “Family Guy”, “The Simpsons”, and “American Dad”.  FX has recently had success with another adult animated series, “Little Demon”, in addition to other shows like “Archer”.

Should the pilot get picked up for a full series, we should expect to see “The Trenches” available on Hulu in the United States and released as a Star Original internationally on Disney+.
