FOX Renews “The Floor” & “Extraction”
Ahead of next week’s Upfront event, FOX Entertainment has announced that it has renewed two of its unscripted shows for further seasons, with “The Floor” returning for two more seasons, while “Extraction” will also return for a second season.
In “The Floor”, contestants must stand their ground on a massive, interactive LED game floor of squares, each representing a different trivia category. The first challenger, selected at random, must choose one of his or her neighboring opponents to go head-to-head in an epic quiz duel in the opponent’s category. The winner takes over the loser’s square, gaining valuable ground as they expand their territory, while the loser exits the game. The winner must then choose whether to go on the offensive to dominate more of the board or let The Floor choose a new challenger. The contestant who gains full control over The Floor takes home a life-changing grand prize.
This show is hosted by Robe Low and is produced by Eureka Productions, Talpa and BiggerStage. John de Mol, Mark van Achterberg, Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Eden Gaha, Wes Dening, Sean O’Riordan and Shane Byrne serve as executive producers. Anthony Carbone serves as showrunner, and Rob Lowe is producer. Talpa is the creator and owner of “The Floor” format.
“Extracted: is a one-of-a-kind survivalist competition series from the producers of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, “Extracted” features 12 untrained competitors attempting to survive extremely grueling conditions, perilous terrain, and the threat of fearsome predators in the unforgiving Canadian wilderness. Meanwhile, some miles away, their family members are locked down at a secluded headquarters watching them navigate their dangerous surroundings alone via a 24/7 live feed. The fate of each untrained contestant in the wilderness lies in the hands of their family members back in HQ. Each amateur survivalist’s family has the power to decide whether their loved one has what it takes to brave the elements and fight to be the last one standing, or whether the family will push the ominous “Extract” button and remove their loved one and their whole family from the competition. Extracted begs the question: how far will their loved ones let them go for a chance for their family to win $250,000?
Tensions mount and strategic alliances are forged, as the opposing families negotiate and compete to send essential lifelines and resources to their competitors in the wild, to help them endure the harsh conditions they are faced with. Pressure reaches a fever pitch as each family is faced with the critical decision – will they push their loved one to the brink or push the Button?
“Extracted” is produced by B17 Entertainment (a part of Sony Pictures Television), Balboa Productions and FOX Alternative Entertainment. Executive Producers are Rhett Bachner, Brien Meagher, Sylvester Stallone, Braden Aftergood, Kourosh Taj, Lauren Taylor Harding, Dan Bree and Rob Buchta, with Buchta also serving as showrunner.
This is the latest rewewal for the next season, following renewals for “Animal Control”, “Krapopolis”, “Grimsburg”, “Going Dutch”, and “The Masked Singer”. In addition to 20th Television’s “The Simpsons”, “American Dad”, “Family Guy” and “Bob’s Burgers”.
New episodes will premiere on the FOX channel and will be available to stream on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ due to a multi-year licensing deal between Disney and FOX for the next day rights in the US. No release date for the new seasons has been announced yet. Previous seasons of “The Floor” and “Extraction” are available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+.
