FOX Renews ‘Grimsburg’, ‘Krapopolis’ & ‘Universal Basic Guys’
FOX Entertainment has announced that it has renewed three of its original animated shows for new seasons, with ‘Grimsburg’, ‘Krapopolis’ & ‘Universal Basic Guys’ all set to return later this year with new episodes.
‘Grimsburg’ will be returning for its third season, and it tells the story of Marvin Flute, who may be the greatest detective ever to catch a cannibal clown or correctly identify a mid-century modern armoire. But there’s one mystery he still can’t crack — his family. Now that he’s back in Grimsburg, a town where everyone has a secret or three, Flute follows every lead he’s got to redeem himself with the ex-wife he never stopped loving, even if it means hanging out with the son he never bothered to get to know.
‘Krapopolis’ will be returning for its fifth season, and the show is set in mythical Ancient Greece. The series centres on a flawed family of humans, gods and monsters that tries to run one of the world’s first cities without killing each other. Tyrannis, the mortal son of a goddess, is the benevolent king of Krapopolis and is trying to survive in a city that lives up to its name. Deliria is Tyrannis’ mother, goddess of self-destruction and questionable choices. Within her extended Olympian family — forged in patricide and infidelity — she’s known as the trashy one. Shlub, Tyrannis’ father, is oversexed and underemployed and claims to be an artist and has literally never paid for anything, in any sense of the word, for his entire life. Stupendous is Tyrannis’ half-sister, daughter of Deliria and a cyclops. Hippocampus is Tyrannis’ half-brother, the offspring of Shlub and a mermaid, and, obviously, a hot mess, biologically speaking.
‘Universal Basic Guys’ will also be returning for its third season. This series tells the story of two brothers lose their jobs to automation and are given $3,000 a month in a new basic income program, allowing them to use their free time and free money to find purpose in a world where they’re no longer needed.
The new seasons of these shows will premiere on the FOX channel and due to a multi-year licensing deal, these shows will also be available the following day on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States. Internationally these shows aren’t available on Disney+.
You can find previous seasons of ‘Grimsburg’, ‘Krapopolis’ & ‘Universal Basic Guys’ available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+.
Roger’s Take: FOX has lined up an impressive lineup of animated shows, with these three adding to its lineup of original programming that they own, along with a recent renewal of four shows from 20th Television Animation, which includes “The Simpsons”, “American Dad”, “Bob’s Burgers” and “Family Guy”.
