Last summer, due to the actor’s and writer’s strikes, filming on the second season of the Disney+ Original series, “Star Wars: Andor”, stopped, which has caused a delay in the release, since it was initially teased to arrive on Disney+ in the fall of 2024.

The “Andor” series explores a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.

The second season will be the next step in Cassian’s journey toward becoming a rebel leader, leading up to the events of “Rogue One”, which is set four years after the events of the first season. In the second season, there will be twelve episodes, with each three-episode block representing a year in the life of Andor, to help fill in the void between the series and the film.

When filming stopped last summer, there apparently wasn’t too much left to film and filming resumed in the UK in early January 2024. It’s also likely there were some pick-ups and reshoots done as well, since even while the strikes were ongoing, post-production would have been able to continue.

Today, Diego Luna has taken to social media to confirm that filming on the second and final season of “Andor” has wrapped today:

Today is the last day of filming Andor. I could not be more thankful to the entire crew for this amazing experience and the years of hard work.

More than 700 people have worked on this production, and it is impossible to say goodbye and thank you to everyone individually, which is why I write here. THANK YOU for the love and the wonderful experience.

See you soon.

The series stars Diego Luna returning as Cassian Andor and joined by cast members Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, Fiona Shaw, Forest Whitaker and Andy Serkis. The executive producers are Kathleen Kennedy, Tony Gilroy, Sanne Wohlenberg, Diego Luna and Michelle Rejwan. Tony Gilroy is also the creator and showrunner.

The first season of “Andor”, along with “Star Wars: A Star Wars Story” are available to stream now on Disney+.
