Last year, it was revealed that Disney had made a deal with Netflix to share the streaming rights in the United States to ABC Signature Studios’ biggest series, “Grey’s Anatomy”. 

As part of this deal, Netflix would get non-exclusive streaming access for the United States for several popular older shows, including “Lost,” “How I Met Your Mother,” and “Home Improvement”, for a limited time.

The high-intensity medical drama, now approaching its 20th season, follows a team of doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial who are faced with life-or death decisions on a daily basis. They seek comfort from one another, and, at times, more than just friendship. Together they discover that neither medicine nor relationships can be defined in black and white.

While Hulu has had access to the latest season of “Grey’s Anatomy”, due to a long-standing contract, Netflix had the streaming rights for previous seasons, which is why they’ve never all been available in one place.

In the United States, “Grey’s Anatomy” is one of the most watched shows, not just on Netflix but across all platforms, and it regularly tops the Nielsen streaming chart. Internationally, “Grey’s Anatomy” is the most popular show available on Disney+, which is why Disney agreed to this deal, since it’s one of Disney’s most popular shows.

Just ahead of the release of the first episode of the twentieth season of “Grey’s Anatomy”, from today, Hulu subscribers can now watch all nineteen seasons of the show on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+.  This is the first time every episode has been available on a Disney streaming service, and this will no doubt help push the show’s viewership even higher, with more people having access to the previous seasons on multiple streaming platforms.

Hulu General Manager Lauren Tempest said in a statement:

“’Grey’s Anatomy’ is one of our top performing next-day titles, and we are very excited to now be the only streaming destination to offer every ‘Grey’s’ episode ever, both past and current.  In addition to bringing lifelong fans back to Grey Sloan, we hope that new audiences will discover and fall in love with the characters and stories that have captivated us for so many years.”

New episodes of the latest season of “Grey’s Anatomy” will premiere on ABC on Thursdays from March 14th, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. EST, and will become available on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ the following day.   The spin-off series, “Station 19” and “Private Practice” are also available now.

Internationally, the previous seasons are already available, and the new season will premiere on Disney+ in the UK and Australia from Thursday, 28th March 2024.
