Following on from the success of “Cruella”, which was a live-action prequel to the classic Disney animated film, “101 Dalmatians”, there has been lots of talk about a potential second film, though nothing official has been revealed since “Cruella’s” release.

In “Cruella”, Emma Stone played the role of a young Estella, who is determined to make a name for herself in the fashion world. She soon meets a pair of thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together, they build a life for themselves on the streets of London. However, when Estella befriends fashion legend Baroness von Hellman, she embraces her wicked side to become the raucous and revenge-bent Cruella.

During an interview with Variety, to promote her latest film, “Poor Things”, Emma Stone was asked when shooting for a “Crullea” sequel is supposed to happen, to which she replied:

You tell me. Hopefully, hopefully sooner rather than later. There’s a work in progress kind of thing going on [with the script]. We’ll see.

Emma was also asked how much she would like to revisit the character in a new movie, to which she replied:

She’s a blast, she’s the best. We’ll see, it’s a work in progress.

Going off her body language and how she replied to the question, it does seem like “Cruella 2” seems either very early in development or is likely on the back burner.  With Disney cutting back on how many live-action films it makes, to reduce costs but also as audiences have become bored of worn-out franchises and remakes, it doesn’t sound like a “Cruella” sequel is happening any time soon, if at all.

While we wait for a second “Cruella” film, you can watch the first one, along with the animated and live-action versions of “101 Dalmatians” on Disney+ now.
