As part of Disney’s “Wish” Wednesday campaign, a brand new song from the upcoming film from Walt Disney Animation Studios has been released on SiriusXM’s Disney Hits Channel 133, YouTube, Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Music and all digital service providers.

The new song is called “I’m A Star” and is performed by the talented cast of “Wish”, which includes Academy Award-winning actor Ariana DeBose as Asha, Chris Pine as Magnifico, and Alan Tudyk as Asha’s favorite goat, Valentino.

“I’m A Star” is the fourth of five songs being revealed as part of the weekly “Wish Wednesdays” music campaign ahead of the film’s launch in U.S. theaters on November 22nd 2023, before arriving on Disney+ in 2024.   With a nod to Walt Disney’s musical legacy as the company marks 100 years, Walt Disney Animation Studios “Wish” welcomes audiences to the magical kingdom of Rosas, where Asha, a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force—a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe—the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico—to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.

“I’m A Star” features 22 individual soloists who voice a host of forest animals and plant life that come to life and serenade Asha.  The film’s co-director Fawn Veerasunthorn explained:

“We wanted to have a song that represents what Star is all about.  Asha has so many questions about Star—primarily, ‘Why me?’ Star is there to remind Asha she has the power to pursue her dreams. And she’s not alone. The song—the movie—is about connection with others.”

Said Michaels, “Asha learns that everything is made of stardust. It is so fun and beautiful and always brings a little tear to my eye when I watch it.”

All seven songs in the film were penned by Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Julia Michaels and Grammy-winning producer/songwriter/musician Benjamin Rice, who added:

“The song is fun and deeply meaningful—through the power of Star’s stardust, all of nature comes to life and explains to Asha that we are all made of the same stuff. We are ALL stars! This song is also one of my personal favorites due to its message and the emotions and truth that it strikes in us all.”

Co-director Chris Buck also added:

“There’s a long tradition of singing animals in our animated musicals.  Baloo sings ‘The Bare Necessities’ with Mowgli, and Sebastian is backed up by all kinds of fish in ‘Under the Sea.’ But we were perhaps most deeply inspired by Snow White and Aurora and those beautiful moments when they sing to the forest creatures—you’ll see some clear references in the animation of ‘I’m A Star.’”

A behind the scenes video showing the actors performing the song has also been released:

Disney has also announced that Target has joined the “Wish Together” campaign, which celebrates Disney’s decades-long relationship with Make-A-Wish® and invites fans to join them to help grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Target will celebrate Make-A-Wish alumni, families, volunteers, and community members by welcoming them to one of five early screenings of Wish on November 18th 2023 across the U.S. Disney Wish products are now available at Target, including an exclusive soundtrack vinyl, toys and more.
