Earlier this week, the Writers Guild Of America started its strike after six weeks of negotiations with Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Disney, Discovery-Warner, NBC Universal, Paramount, and Sony under the umbrella of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) failed.

Since then, a number of projects have been disrupted, including Marvel’s “Blade” and now Deadline has revealed that the seventh season of “Bunk’d” has halted filming due to the writer’s strike.

Emma, Ravi and Zuri Ross leave their New York penthouse for Camp Kikiwaka, the rustic summer camp in Maine where their parents met as teenagers. Emma and Ravi learn the ropes as Counselors in Training and are befriended by Lou, the cheerful head counsellor, and Xander, the camp heartthrob. Meanwhile, Zuri makes new friends with her fellow campers, including the overly studious Tiffany and compulsive fibber Jorge. The kids adapt to their new “home away from home” and settle into their exciting new lives at Camp Kikiwaka.

The series is a spinoff of “Jessie”, and last year it was renewed for a seventh season last year, which makes the hit series the longest-running live-action Disney Channel series.

Filming has been completed on twelve episodes of the twenty-episode season seven, with eight more episodes remaining to be shot. According to a document sent by Disney Branded Television’s, It’s a Laugh Productions, producers are hopeful for a speedy resolution of the dispute and to resume production “at the earliest possible opportunity.” This document also confirmed that the actors would not be paid during the suspension, “except for the terms of the Agreement” between It’s A Laugh Productions and SAG-AFTRA.

“BUNK’D” is executive produced by Dunlap, May, David Booth, Valerie Ahern and Eric Schaar and was created by Pamela Eells O’Connell. Jason Shubb serves as producer. The previous seasons are available to stream on Netflix in the United States and on Disney+ around the world.
