Disney Win 12 Emmy Awards
On Sunday evening, the 77th Emmy Awards took place at the Peacock Theatre in downtown Los Angeles, which brought together the biggest names in television to recognise excellence in television programming and individual achievement for the 2024-2025 television season.
Some of the biggest winners of the night included Apple’s “The Studio” picking up thirteen wins, HBO’s “The Penguin” winning nine awards and Netflix’s “Adolescence” winning eight awards.
Disney had been nominated for 137 awards for the evening, across its many studios, including ABC, FX, Hulu, Disney+, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, National Geographic, 20th Television, and Searchlight Pictures. But sadly, it didn’t have a huge haul of wins, picking up just one award during the main ceremony and eleven awards as part of the Creative Arts categories.
The biggest winner of the evening for Disney was the second season of “Andor: A Star Wars Story”, which won five awards, including Outstanding Writing for a drama series.
While FX’s “Welcome To Wrexham” picked up two awards, for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Reality Programme and Outstanding Picture Editing for an Unstructured Reality Programme.
The Disney+ Original documentaries, “Beatles ’64” and “Music By John Williams”, both won awards for their sound editing and mixing. Hulu’s “Patrice: The Movie” also won an award for exceptional merit in documentary making.
Disney+ has also been given a small update, highlighting these Emmy award-winning shows and films on the Disney+ homepage.
