Disney To Host Special Premiere Event For “Haunted Mansion” At Disneyland
This summer, Disney is releasing a new live-action film, “Haunted Mansion”, in cinemas around the world. Inspired by the classic theme park attraction, “Haunted Mansion” is about a woman and her son who enlist a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to help rid their home of supernatural squatters.
Justin Simien has directed the film, which features an all-star cast including LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Chase W. Dillon and Daniel Levy, with Jamie Lee Curtis and Jared Leto as The Hatbox Ghost. The film’s producers are Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, with Nick Reynolds and Tom Peitzman serving as executive producers.
Because of the impending actor’s strike, none of the film’s stars will likely be able to attend, so Disney has planned to turn the premiere into a fan event. Disney has revealed it will be hosting a special premiere event at the Hyperion Theater in Disneyland, which will host about 2,000 guests, including fans in costumes. The event will also include a pre-reception featuring food and drinks.
Disney has invited some cast members who work at the attraction at different locations around the world, including Walt Disney World and Tokyo Disney Resort—but also the rides inspired by it, including Phantom Manor at Disneyland Paris, and Mystic Manor at Hong Kong Disneyland. Disney surprised some of the specially selected cast members and shared some photos of them doing this:
Yoann Langlois and Amélie Fuentes will be representing Phantom Manor at the premiere.
“Since the beginning of my Disneyland Paris story I’ve been connected to Haunted Mansion. This will be my first time in California. I cried when I found out… it took me 3 or 4 days to process. I have to get ready!”
Noriko Kubota, who has worked at the Haunted Mansion attraction at Tokyo Disneyland for nearly two decades said:
“When I heard I was selected for this opportunity, I couldn’t tell if I was dreaming or it was real. This is my first time visiting Disneyland, so not just experiencing the ‘Haunted Mansion’ movie, but being able to go to the original park Walt Disney created is something I’m quite honored by.”
Taeny Poon, an 11-year Hong Kong Disneyland cast member representing Mystic Manor, which she helped open in 2013 said:
“This is our first time to visit California. We have been wanting to go for a long, long time, and we’re very excited we can visit!” said Taeny, who will be joined by teammate Annto To (above center).
“Haunted Mansion” is coming to cinemas in many countries around the world, including the US and Canada, on July 28th 2023, before arriving in theatres in the UK and Australia in August. Expect “Haunted Mansion” to arrive on Disney+ later this year.
