Disney+ Teaming Up With Shahid and OSN+ For New Streaming Bundle
Disney has been making partnerships around the world, combining Disney+ with other streaming services to offer unique bundles to reduce the churn rate of subscribers, as it’s been proven that bundled customers are much less likely to unsubscribe.
Today, Disney has announced a new streaming bundle across many countries in the Middle East, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
This new bundle will offer Disney+, along with regional streaming services Shahid and OSN+, in a trio bundle. All three apps will be available on Shahid, which is one of the biggest platforms in the region, with a variety of different offerings including ad-supported FAST channels, live-TV feeds and video on demand.
Unfortunately, the price for the bundle hasn’t been announced.
Karl Holmes, SVP and General Manager, Disney+ EMEA, said in a statement regarding the deal:
“For over a century, The Walt Disney Company has entertained the world with the greatest stories, which now live on Disney+. The collaboration between Disney+ and Shahid brings our award-winning series like FX’s Shōgun and iconic, blockbuster movies such Lilo & Stitch into a unique bundle with Shahid’s premium content including Al Dariya.
This agreement reflects a shared ambition between Disney+ and Shahid to shape the future of entertainment in the Middle East. The Middle East is young, dynamic and fast-growing, and we’re delighted to give consumers a new and easy way to access extraordinary content at exceptional value.”
Natasha Matos-Hemingway, Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer at Shahid, added:
“We are proud to collaborate with OSN+ and Disney+ to offer an unmatched streaming experience to our subscribers. This bundle is a major step in our ongoing mission to simplify and elevate the digital entertainment experience in the region. With one subscription, one payment, and full access to premium content from all three platforms, we’re delivering unbeatable convenience, value, and entertainment.”
Choucri Khairallah, chief business officer at OSN+, also said:
“Today’s audiences expect more than great content; they seek seamless access, variety, and exceptional value. This all-in-one bundle delivers exactly that. From Hollywood blockbusters and exclusive HBO shows to the most extensive Arabic library, it’s the region’s most powerful streaming offering that remains unmatched in quality, convenience, and price.”
Roger’s Take: This new bundle makes total sense as consumers around the world look to reduce the amount of money they spend on streaming services. Offering an attractive bundle with a big discount helps keep subscribers engaged for much longer and I suspect we will see more of these types of bundles launching in regions around the world.
