Disney Receives 5 Oscar Nominations
Today, the nominees for this year’s Academy Awards were revealed, and Disney picked up five Oscar nominations across Disney+, 20th Century Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, and Walt Disney Animation Studios.
20th Century Studios film, “Avatar: Fire and Ash” picked up two nominations in the technical categories, with “Elio” and “Zootopia 2” also getting nominated in the same category of Best Animated Feature Film.
“Sinners” was the most nominated film, with 16 nods, while “One Battle After Another” also received 13 nominations. Disney wasn’t able to secure any nominations in any of the major live-action categories.
Here are details of Disney’s Oscar nominations:
Avatar: Fire and Ash (20th Century Studios) – 2 Nominations
- Best Costume Design – Deborah L. Scott
- Best Visual Effects – Joe Letteri, Richard Baneham, Eric Saindon, and Daniel Barrett
Elio (Pixar Animation Studios) – 1 Nomination
- Best Animated Feature Film – Madeline Sharafian, Domee Shi, Adrian Molina, and Mary Alice Drumm
Retirement Plan (Disney+) – 1 Nomination
- Best Animated Short Film – John Kelly and Andrew Freedman
Zootopia 2 (Walt Disney Animation Studios) – 1 Nomination
- Best Animated Feature Film – Jared Bush, Byron Howard, and Yvett Merino
“Elio” is available to stream on Disney+ now, while both “Zootopia 2” and “Avatar: Fire And Ash” are currently available in cinemas, but will be coming to Disney+ later this year. “Retirement Plan” is also available to stream on Disney+ in Europe, though it’s important to note that this short wasn’t made by any of Disney’s own studios.
The Oscars will air live on ABC, stream live on Hulu, and air live in more than 200 territories worldwide on Sunday, 15th March 2026, from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood. Emmy Award-winning television host, writer, producer, and comedian Conan O’Brien will return to host The Oscars for a second consecutive year; Emmy Award winners Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan will return as executive producers for a third consecutive year; and Jeff Ross and Mike Sweeney will return as producers for a second time, with Sweeney also serving as a writer.
