Disney+ Launches On Meta Quest Devices
Disney is on a continuous quest to innovate its streaming service, Disney+ and provide new ways of exploring their iconic stories and characters. Today, Disney+ has launched on the Meta Quest device in the United States, offering Disney+ subscribers unlimited access to entertainment from Disney, plus Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and more, including content from Hulu and ESPN, all on a massive virtual screen you can take with you anywhere you go.
Subscribers will be able to use the Meta Quest device to enjoy new films such as Freakier Friday and “The Fantastic Four: First Steps, along with original series like “Andor” and classic films, throwback TV shows, fan favourites like The Simpsons, and so much more.
This new experience will also offer Disney+ subscribers in the US an elevated cinematic experience as select titles are available in Dolby Vision 4K HDR in-headset. For immersive Dolby Atmos sound, you’ll need to upgrade to a Disney+ Premium subscription, which also lets you download content on up to 10 devices — making Quest the perfect companion for staycations and vacations alike.
To use Disney+ on a Meta Quest, you’ll need to have a Disney+ subscription and to enjoy ESPN or Hulu content, you’ll need to be subscribed to the Disney Streaming Bundle.
Currently, Disney+ is only available on Meta Quest devices in the United States, but it will be available internationally soon. It will also require the latest version of Meta Horizon OS.
Roger’s Take: For subscribers with a Meta Quest device, I’ve got no doubt that this will be a nice little feature to try out, especially if you enjoy watching movies on other platforms such as Amazon Prime or YouTube. Disney+ has previously been available on the Apple Vision Pro, so making it available on other VR and AR devices makes total sense. Making Disney+ available on as many different devices makes total sense.
