To tie in with the release of the new Disney+ Original series, “Iwájú”, a new mobile game called “Disney Iwájú: Rising Chef” has been released on iOS and Android devices.

The game has been inspired by the animated Disney+ series and lets players will step into the world of “Iwájú” in this fast-paced and accessible cooking game that celebrates the culture and cuisine of Nigeria.

The new original animated series is set in a futuristic Lagos, Nigeria. The exciting coming-of-age story follows Tola, a young girl from a wealthy island, and her best friend, Kole, a self-taught tech expert, as they discover the secrets and dangers hidden in their different worlds. 

“Disney Iwájú: Rising Chef “marks the first collaboration between Disney Games and an African game developer. This collaboration has created an opportunity for entry-level developers at Maliyo Games, providing access and exposure to international game design professionals as they continue to sharpen their skills and build their portfolios.

Embark on a culinary adventure and experience the culturally rich and playfully futuristic world of “Iwájú” as a plucky chef ready to make it big. Players will take over a local neighborhood spot and expand it into a world-class Nigerian restaurant. With the help of Tola and Kole, players can learn about and celebrate the culture from Nigeria through the authentic cuisine of the area. Serve up African delicacies like Jollof Rice, a popular rice dish, Puff-Puff, traditional snack made of fried dough, and Àkàrà, delicious black eyed peas fritters, to new and familiar faces from the animated series.

 

“Rising Chef” has been developed byMaliyo Games in collaboration with Disney Games and Kugali, “Iwájú: Rising Chef” is now available to purchase for $1.99 (USD) on iOS and Android devices.  All six episodes of “Iwájú” are also available to stream now on Disney+
