Disney+ Hits 54.5 Million Subscribers
During the Walt Disney Companies quarterly investors call, it was announced that as of May 4th, Disney+ now has 54.5 million subscribers globally.
This growth has been driven by the launch of Disney+ in European countries and the rebranding of Hotstar in India, to Disney+ Hotstar. Along with more people staying at home and needing entertainment during the Coronavirus situation, this has also helped boost numbers.
While the COVID-19 pandemic has had an appreciable financial impact on a number of our businesses, we are confident in our ability to withstand this disruption and emerge from it in a strong position,” said Bob Chapek, Chief Executive Officer, The Walt Disney Company. “Disney has repeatedly shown that it is exceptionally resilient, bolstered by the quality of our storytelling and the strong affinity consumers have for our brands, which is evident in the extraordinary response to Disney+ since its launch last November.”
With Disney+ set to launch in more countries over the next year, this subscriber number is set to keep increasing, though Disney wouldn’t adjust their forecasts on how many subscribers they are aiming for and when the business will go into profit.
Are you a subscriber to Disney+?
So far I like Disney+ there are a lot of good titles missing the ewoks movies and so much more. I got Disney+ to enjoy a side of streaming no other company has. I'm sick and tried of paying for a streaming service that also expect you to pay for titles that should come with the service. So far so good but I pray Disney surpass all the rest not with just rating also with access of great titles.
