Disney Entertainment Television Names Carol Turner As Head Of Production
With the new year, Disney has officially made Carol Turner the head of Production for Disney Entertainment Television, where she will oversee physical production and backlot functions for both the studios and platforms, including 20th Television, ABC Signature, ABC Entertainment, FX Productions, Disney+, Hulu, Freeform and Onyx Collective, with a purview of over 100 current series and pilots.
Some of the shows created under her control include:
- 9-1-1
- Grey’s Anatomy
- High Potential
- Tracker
- American Sports Story
- Only Murders In The Building
Last spring, following several layoffs, she took on the role of ABC Signature EVP Production and Post-Production as part of consolidating production operations across Disney TV Studios, Hulu, Freeform and FX.
Carol has previously worked as the EVP of Physical Production at Skydance; the first director of Production for International Originals at Netflix; and SVP of Production and VP of Production, overseeing Scripted and Unscripted Series at BBC Worldwide Production. She joined ABC in 2015 and also worked at 20th Century Fox TV, plus spent eight years working at ABC Family (which is now FreeForm). Over her career, Carol has been involved in the production of over 1500 TV episodes.
Eric Schrier, President of Disney Television Studios and Global Original Television Strategy, said in a statement:
“Carol is a proven leader with the unique ability to deftly navigate production challenges and support the creative vision of our creators. Just a few months into her new role, she has already made a major impact in how we manage our productions across Disney Entertainment Television.”.
According to Deadline with her promotion, John Ziffren is now taking over the role of ABC Signature Studios EVP of Production and Post-Production.
