Disney Developing New “Night At The Museum” Movie
Disney loves its franchises, and once again, it’s diving into the back catalogue of 20th Century Studios for its next big movie, for a new instalment in the “Night At The Museum” franchise.
A couple of years ago, we saw 20th Century Studios release the first animated movie in the franchise on Disney+, but now it’s been revealed that Tripper Clancy has been brought in to write a script for a new movie. Tripper has previously worked on “Stuber” and “Die Hart”.
No plot details on the upcoming film have been revealed, but it’s said to be a brand new story set at the museum with all-new characters.
The upcoming film will also be produced by 21 Laps’s Shawn Levy and Dan Levine, with Emily Morris overseeing the project for the company.
No other details on this film have been revealed, such as when it will be released, who will star in it, or if any of the actors, like Owen Wilson or Ben Stiller, will be returning. It’s also not known if this new film will get a theatrical release, or if it will be released directly onto Disney+, like “Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again”.
While we wait for the new movie, you can find the previous three live-action movies, along with the animated movie, on Disney+ now.
Roger’s Take: It’s not a huge surprise to see Disney going back to the well once again, but this time, they are doing it properly, rather than making a cheap animated film for streaming. I’ve little doubt that this new movie will be a theatrical release, since the previous three films have performed well and if they can keep the budget under control, deliver a solid family-friendly movie.
