Disney Delays 20th Century Studios “Emma McCay” Release
Disney has announced that it has delayed the release of the upcoming 20th Century Studios film, “Emma McCay”, moving it back a few months from September 12th 2025, to December 12th 2025.
This upcoming comedy movie has been written and directed by Disney Legend James L. Brooks, who was recently awarded CinemaCon’s Cinema Vérité Award, which recognises the achievements of actors, actresses, and filmmakers.
“Ella McCay” is about the complicated politics that arise when a young woman’s stressful career clashes with her chaotic family life. The film features an all-star cast, including Emma Mackey, Woody Harrelson, Kumail Nanjiani, Spike Fearn, Ayo Edebiri, Jack Lowden, Rebecca Hall, Julie Kavner, Becky Ann Baker, and Joey Brooks, with Brooks and Curtis. The film is produced by Brooks, Richard Sakai, Julie Ansell, and Jennifer Simchowitz.
With shifting the movie back a few months, it will now be able to make the most of the Christmas/New Year period, where it will now be able to compete with some different films such as “Zootopia 2” and “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2“, which appeal to different audiences.
Obviously, with the theatrical release being pushed back, it means we now won’t see the film released on Hulu and Disney+ this year, shifting it back a few months into early 2026.
