Disney Announce New Korean Drama “Tempest”
Disney has announced a brand new Korean original series called “Tempest”, which will be coming out on Disney+ around the world in 2025.
“Tempest” is set in modern-day South Korea, and follows Seo Mun-joo, an excellent diplomat and former ambassador to the United States, and Sang-ho, an international special agent, as they uncover the truth behind a mysterious attack that threatens peace on the Korean Peninsula.
This new series will star two of Korea’s top stars including Jeon Ji-hyun who plays the role of Seo Mun-joo, a diplomat who uses her sharp mind to investigate the cause of deadly terrorist attacks. She suddenly became a famous actress with the worldwide hit of the movie “Mysterious Girlfriend,” and became a hot topic when she co-starred with Lee Min-ho in the drama “My Love from the Stars,” which attracted attention when she co-starred with Kim Soo-hyun. This is her first drama return in about three years since her appearance in the 2021 drama “Jirisan.”
The role of Sang-ho, a mysterious investigator shrouded in secrecy, will be played by Kang Dong-won, a popular actor who used to be a model and is known as “the man you want to have as your lover” due to his handsome appearance. Recently, he has been starring in“Baby Broker” and “New Infection Peninsula Final Stage”, but this will be his first drama series appearance in about 20 years since “Magic” in 2004. Additionally, Kang will serve as the show’s executive producer.
It will be directed by Kim Hee-won, who has previously worked on “Queen of Tears” and “Vincenzo,’. Also co-directing the series is Heo Myung-haeng, who has previously worked on “Crime City 4″. The show is being written by Jeon Seo-kyung, who has previously worked on `The Decision to Break Up” and “Sisters.’
As with other Korean original series, expect to see this series released on Disney+ around the world and on Hulu/Hulu On Disney+ in the United States in 2025.
