Disney has announced that at this year’s Destination D23 event, there will be a special Walt Disney Studios Showcase presentation taking place on between 9 A.M. – 10:30 A.M on Sunday, 10th September, 2023 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.

According to the official description for the panel, it will offer a sneak peek at exciting upcoming projects from The Walt Disney Studios!

While Disney has announced it will be livestreaming the presentations from the Saturday panels on its social media, Sunday’s panels will not be live-streamed.

The Destination D23 event is generally more focused on the Disney Theme Parks, which is why the Saturday panel is being live-streamed since some major announcements for the theme parks are expected to be revealed.

With the actor’s strikes ongoing, there won’t be any actors taking part in the event, and Disney is likely to focus its attention on upcoming theatrical and Disney+ releases like “Loki”, “Wish”, “The Marvels”, and “The Creator”.  Hopefully, we might get a new announcement or two, but nothing is guaranteed.  At the previous Destination D23 events, we only had a preview of the “Muppets Haunted Mansion” special, so it’s always good to keep expectations in check.

Many people do confuse the Destination D23 and D23 Expo events, since they are both run by the official Disney fan club, D23.  The two events are very different, as the D23 Expo is held at the Anaheim Convention Center every other year, and has around 140,000 people attend that event and has many huge studio panels, showcasing the latest films and shows that are attended by most of the major actors in Hollywood.  The Destination D23 event is held in a much smaller venue, which can only hold around 4,000 people and is around 115,000 square feet, compared to the Anaheim Convention Center, which is 1.8 million square feet!

Hopefully, we do get some first looks at some upcoming films and Disney+ shows during the showcase, but I’m not expecting anything new to be revealed while the actor’s and writer’s strikes are still ongoing.
