“Descendants: The Rise Of Red” Temporarily Removed From Disney+
Last week, Disney released a brand-new original movie, “Descendants: The Rise of Red”, on to Disney+, and it went on to become the most viewed DCOM movie premiere from Disney Branded Television ever on Disney+, with 6.7 million views in its first three days streaming.
In the new movie, former Villain Kid Uma is now the Headmaster of Auradon Prep, and she extends an invite to the school to another VK – Red, the rebellious daughter of the tyrannical Queen of Hearts from Wonderland. The Queen of Hearts has long held a grudge against Auradon, especially against Cinderella, and seizes the opportunity to seek revenge when she drops her daughter off at school. When the Queen of Hearts incites a coup against Auradon, Red must team up with Cinderella’s perfectionist daughter Chloe as they travel back in time to try to undo the traumatic event that set the young Queen of Hearts down her villainous path.
However, fans of the movie have been a little confused this morning, as the film is currently unavailable to stream on Disney+ around the world.
The good news is that the movie will be returned to Disney+, and this is just a temporary issue which Disney is currently investigating and looking to fix. This doesn’t look like it’s a problem connected to the massive Microsoft outage going on today around the world, as it’s only impacting a single title on Disney+.
While Disney+ does sometimes remove titles, either due to licensing agreements or with unsuccessful titles, as a write-off, i.e. “Willow”, it’s very unlikely that one of the most films on Disney+ this year would be removed within a week of release.
Hopefully, “Descendants: The Rise Of Red” will be back on Disney+ very soon, once the engineers have worked out what’s gone wrong. In the meantime, you can check out the previous movies on Disney+ now.
