DeMarco Morgan & Eva Pilgrim To Leave “GMA3”
Disney’s ABC News is looking to make some changes to its daytime show, “GMA3”, which is a one-hour news program that follows “Good Morning America” each weekday.
The spin-off show originally debuted in 2018, and it has gone through many rebrands, from “GMA Day” to “GMA3: What You Need to Know” and now the simpler, “GMA3″.
Over the last few months, the show has been going through some changes, and it’s been revealed that the “GMA3” anchor Eva Pilgrim will be moving to “Inside Edition” in the Fall and DeMarco Morgan will also be leaving the show.
The current plan for the show is to continue with a rotating panel of hosts from the main “Good Morning America” show, such as Lara Spencer, Will Reeve, Gio Benitez, Sam Champion, Rachel Scott and James Longman.
ABC News president Almin Karamehmedovic said in an internal memo:
“Eva Pilgrim has decided to embark on her next chapter and will be departing ABC News. I am also sharing news today about our wonderful colleague DeMarco Morgan. He has decided to begin a new journey and will be departing ABC News,” Karamehmedovic added in a second memo.
While on the other side, Charles Lachman, who is “Inside Edition’s” executive producer, said in a statement about Eva joining the show:
“We feel like we won the jackpot to have Eva join our team as the next anchor of ‘Inside Edition. She has solid news chops from her years as a reporter and anchor in national and local news, plus a warm relatability that resonates with audiences. We look forward to having a journalist of her caliber take ‘Inside Edition’ into its next chapter.”
Earlier this year, the team was hit by layoffs, and the show was placed under the leadership of “GMA” executive producer Simone Swink.
The show airs weekdays at 1:00 p.m. ET | 12:00 p.m. CT on ABC, and 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. ET on ABC News Live. It is also available to stream on Hulu and Disney+.
