Dave Filioni Gives Update On “Star Wars: Ahsoka” Season 2
Last year, Lucasfilm released a brand new original series on Disney+ called “Star Wars: Ahsoka”, which is set after the fall of the Empire and follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
Earlier this year, Disney announced that it had renewed the Star Wars live-action series, “Ahsoka”, had been renewed for a second season.
During this week’s launch event of “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” at Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland, the show’s creator, Dave Filoni, confirmed in an interview with Extra TV, that filming has recently wrapped on the upcoming “The Mandalorian & Grogu” movie and revealed that he has been busy writing the second season of “Ahsoka”.
“Good grief! I’m so well into that as well. I’ve been writing it and I’m still the single writer on it, so I’ve been enjoying doing that. But it’s a challenge of course, and working some of these arcs through has been a challenge, and making sure it’s all going to come out in a way that I think is exciting for fans. I know they’re interested in where some of the things I developed in Season 1 go, so yeah… But I’m pretty happy with it! We’ll see. I love working with that team; love working with Rosario, so I can’t wait to get back to that…. It’s my next thing, I think, of my many things.”

The first season of “Ahsoka”, along with the animated series, “The Clone Wars” and “Rebels” are available on Disney+.
Roger’s Take: It’s great to hear work is still ongoing on the second season of “Ahsoka”, and while it might feel like the scripts should have been sorted, since it’s been over a year since the first season was released, Dave is also working on other projects at Lucasfilm, with the new “Mandalorian” movie being the top priority for the studio. We are also going to be getting a lot fewer Star Wars projects released each year moving forward, with theatrical releases taking priority over Disney+ shows. We don’t know when “Ahsoka” season two is going to start filming or get released on Disney+, but I’d be surprised if filming doesn’t start at some point in 2025, with it coming out in late 2026.
