“Dancing With The Stars” Season 33 Judges Confirmed
Disney has announced details on the upcoming 33rd season of the hit competition reality series, “Dancing With The Stars”, which will be returning this Fall on ABC, Hulu and Disney+.
It’s been confirmed that Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough will be returning as judges on the upcoming season. It’s also been confirmed that Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro will also be returning as co-hosts for the upcoming season.
No details have yet been announced about what celebrities will be returning for the forthcoming season, but expect that information to be start being drip feed out over the coming weeks.
Bruno Tonioli has been a popular judge on “Strictly Come Dancing,” the U.K. version of “Dancing with the Stars.” He is a top choreographer and has worked on countless films, plays, music videos, commercials, concerts, trade shows and television series with such music icons as Elton John, Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, Tina Turner and Paul McCartney. He starred alongside Carrie Ann Inaba on ABC’s “Dance Wars: Bruno Vs. Carrie Ann” and recently presented BBC Two’s documentary “West Side Stories – The Making of a Classic,” as well as a radio program for BBC Radio 2, “Bruno Tonioli at the Opera.”
Derek Hough started dancing in his hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah, at age 11. Just one year later, he moved to London to live and train with the top dance coaches in the world and attend the prestigious Italia Conti performing arts school, where he studied theatre, music and dance.
As a three-time Emmy Award winner and 13-time nominee, Hough is the most-nominated male choreographer in Television Academy history. Hough has also appeared in film, television and stage projects as an actor. He made his feature film debut for director Duane Adler and producer Robert Cort in the feature film “Make Your Move,” and had a recurring role on the ABC series “Nashville” and in “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” for Disney+. His stage performances include Radio City Music Hall’s “Spring Spectacular” costarring alongside the Tony Award-winning Laura Benanti and the critically acclaimed production of “Footloose” in which he starred as the male lead in London’s West End. In December 2016, Hough starred with Jennifer Hudson, Ariana Grande, Martin Short and Harvey Fierstein in NBC’s “Hairspray Live!”
Carrie Ann Inaba is a dancer, choreographer, philanthropist and Emmy Award-nominated talk show host who a a child, Inaba explored dance forms including jazz, ballet and the Hawaiian dance form of hula as well as competed in gymnastics. Carrie Ann played the piano and violin, and sang in the choir. At age 18, she was scouted to go to Japan to embark on a recording career and released three singles in Japan, hitting the Billboard Top 100 with her first single produced by Kenny Loggins Project. Ultimately, it was her love of dancing that brought her back to the U.S. to study choreography at UC Irvine.
Inaba was at the forefront of bringing hip-hop to mainstream television as one of the original Fly Girls on the series “In Living Color” (1990). The Emmy Award-winning show was one of the first inclusive comedy series produced by Keenan Ivory Wayans; Inaba performed as the only Asian female dancer for three seasons. At the same time, she was running her dance company, Persona Productions, with Brazilian choreographer Alexandre Magno. She also has brought her talent to the big screen where she co-starred as Fook Yu in New Line Cinema’s “Austin Powers in Goldmember” and earlier as Felicity Dancer in “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me.” She was also featured in “American Virgin” and “Monster Mash,” as well as “Boys and Girls,” “Flintstones II,” “Showgirls” and “Lord of Illusions.”
The series will return on September 17th 2024, on ABC, and it will also be simulcast live on Disney+ at the same time in the US and Canada. New episodes will also be available the next day on Hulu.
