Earlier this year, Disney announced that Marvel was developing a brand new Disney+ series called “Kingdom Of Wakanda”, which is being developed by Black Panther director and co-writer Ryan Coogler who recently signed a new five-year overall exclusive television deal with Disney.

Marvel is also releasing a new “Black Panther” sequel called, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, which will continue to explore the incomparable world of Wakanda and all of the rich and varied characters introduced in the first film. “Wakanda Forever” is scheduled to be released in theatres on July 8th, 2022.

In a recent article in the Hollywood Reporter, it was revealed that lawyer Jamie Mandelbaum brokered a deal for actress Danai Gurira to not only reprise her role as Okoye in the upcoming Black Panther sequel, “Wakanda Forever”, but also in an origin spinoff series for Disney+.

Okoye is the General of the Dora Milaje and the head of Wakandan armed forces and intel. She has previously appeared in “Black Panther”, “Avengers: Infinity War”, and “Avengers: Endgame”.

It’s not clear if Danai Gurira is getting her own spin-off Disney+ series or if the lawyer is just referring to the “Kingdom of Wakanda” series, though if they are separate Disney+ shows, she’d likely appear in both.

Earlier this year, another member of the Dora Milaje appeared in the Disney+ series “The Falcon And The Winter Soldier”, and Florence Kasumba play the role of Ayo, who she played in “Captain America: Civil War”, “Black Panther”, and “Avengers: Infinity War”.

What do you think of Okoye getting her own Disney+ series?
