Disney has revealed that the live-action remake of its animated classic, “Cinderella”, will return to Disney+ in the United States on Friday 8th March 2024.

“Cinderella” tells the story of what happens after her father unexpectedly dies, young Ella (Lily James) finds herself at the mercy of her cruel stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and stepsisters, who reduce her to scullery maid. Despite her circumstances, she refuses to despair. An invitation to a palace ball gives Ella hope that she might reunite with the dashing stranger (Richard Madden) she met in the woods, but her stepmother prevents her from going. Help arrives in the form of a kindly beggar woman who has a magic touch for ordinary things.

The film stars Downton Abbey’s Lily James as Cinderella, with Cate Blanchett playing the Wicked Stepmother. It also stars Richard Madden as the Prince and Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother.

The film was initially released in cinemas in 2015 and was a huge success, which is why we’ve seen so many live-action adaptions of animated films since.

The movie was previously available on Disney+ until October 1st 2020, when it was removed due to a previous contract made before the creation of Disney+, “Cinderella” is currently available to stream on Starz, where it will leave on March 5th 2024.    Internationally, “Cinderella” has been available on Disney+ since its launch.
