Disney’s FX has cased Christina Jackson in the upcoming pilot that is based on the Sam Greenlee novel “The Spook Who Sat by the Door”, where she will play Joy Freeman, an up-and-coming attorney committed to making a difference in her community.   This follows the recent news that Y’lan Noel has been cast in the lead role, Dan Freeman, who is her character’s husband.

“The Spook Who Sat by the Door” is a fictional story of Dan Freeman (played by Y’lan Noel), who has just been hired as the only Black operative in the CIA. He is a patriot, a Vietnam vet, and secretly, a Black Revolutionary.

This new project will be executive produced by Lee Daniels.  It has been written by Leigh Dana Jackson and will be directed by Gerard McMurray, who previously worked with Y’lan Noel on “The First Purge”.

Christina Jackson has previously appeared in “The Good Fight”, “Outsiders”, “Bull”, and many other shows.

She also took to Instagram to confirm that she will be appearing in the pilot.

. listen…. The way God is blessing me right now! One of my favorite books. Incredible team behind Us… and they are trusting me with Joy Freeman. When I say I’m ready…. I mean it!

Gerard McMurray and Marc Velez will also serve as executive producers, and Leigh Dana Jackson will serve as showrunner.

20th Television will create the show. So if the pilot is picked up, we should expect to see the show on Hulu in the US and as a “Star Original” on Disney+ internationally.
