With the start of a brand new month, some titles in the United States are removed from Disney+ due to contracts made before Disney purchased 20th Century Fox. And unfortunately, “Chasing Maverick” has been removed from Disney+ in the United States and is now available to stream on Hulu.

“Chasing Mavericks” is the inspirational true story of surfing phenom Jay Moriarity. When 15-year-old Jay discovers that the mythic Mavericks surf break, one of the biggest waves on Earth, is near his Santa Cruz home, he enlists the help of local legend Frosty Hesson to train him to survive it. As Jay and Frosty embark on their quest to do the impossible, they form a unique friendship that transforms their lives, and their quest to tame Mavericks becomes about more than surfing. “Chasing Mavericks was made with the help of some of the biggest names in the surfing world, and features some of the most mind blowing wave footage ever captured on film.

The film stars Gerard Butler, Jonny Weston, Elisabeth Shue, Abigail Spencer, Leven Rambin, and Harley Graham. It’s been directed by Michael Apted and Curtis Hanson.

It’s unknown how long “Chasing Maverick” will be available on Hulu, but it will return once it has completed its contract. This isn’t uncommon for films to be removed from Disney+, and this has been happening since it launched in 2019. However, unlike other streaming services, Disney+ does not inform subscribers in advance if a title is going to be removed.
