Disney has announced that filming is now underway for the second season of the Original comedy series, “Extraordinary” from creator and writer Emma Moran and Sid Gentle Films. The season two greenlight was confirmed by Johanna Devereaux, VP Scripted Content and “Extraordinary” Executive Producer for Disney+, at the Season 1 premiere screening in London last week.

Season two picks up where season one spectacularly left off. Ten years ago, everyone over the age of 18 got their superpower. Season one sees Jen, a painfully self-aware 25-year-old woman, still waiting to get hers. She’d take anything at this point. Adrift in a big, confusing world and armed with nothing but a bit of hope, a lot of desperation and her flatmates, Jen begins her journey to find her maybe-superpower. But in doing so, she might discover the joy of being just kind of ok.

“Extraordinary” is led by a cast of rising UK talent, including Máiréad Tyers (Jen), Sofia Oxenham (Carrie), Bilal Hasna (Kash), and Luke Rollason (Jizzlord). Additional cast members include Siobhán McSweeney (Jen’s mum, Mary) and Robbie Gee (Jen’s stepdad, Ian), who will all be returning for Season 2.

Written by series creator Emma Moran, a stand-out debut writer with an utterly distinctive voice. Toby McDonald will return to direct to kick off the season and Jennifer Sheridan returns for block two. This is a fresh, innovative comedy about being young and finding your feet in a confusing world, when all you’ll ever be is ‘ordinary’.

“Extraordinary” is executive produced by Sally Woodward Gentle, Lee Morris and Charles Dawson for Sid Gentle Films, the production company behind “Killing Eve”. The series is executive produced by Johanna Devereaux, Vice President, Scripted Content for Disney+ and Emma Moran. Series producer is Charlie Palmer with Abíólá Rufai-Awójídé as producer.

“Extraordinary” is the newest Disney+ UK Original series to launch on the platform, following rom-com action thriller “Wedding Season” and docu-series “Save Our Squad with David Beckham”, available to stream now.

All episodes of the first season of “Extraordinary” are available to stream on Hulu in the United States, on Star+ in Latin America and on Disney+ around the world.
