Disney’s Onyx Collective has announced a brand new documentary series called“Black Twitter: A People’s History.” Based on Jason Parham’s WIRED cover story “A People’s History of Black Twitter,” this three-part docuseries charts the rise, movements, voices, and memes that made Black Twitter an influential and dominant force in nearly every aspect of American political and cultural life.

The series is produced by A Penny for Your Thoughts, WIRED Studios and Culture House Media.  It will be directed by Prentice Penny and this marks the first project with Onyx Collective via his overall deal under the banner of his company, A Penny for Your Thoughts.

“Black Twitter: A People’s History” is set to premiere with all three episodes on Thursday, 9th May 2024, on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+.  No international release details have been announced, but I’d expect this show to also be released as a Star Original on Disney+.

The series will have its world premiere today during SXSW’s opening night.
