This coming May, some brand new movies are heading to Disney+ around the world, including brand new documentaries about Jim Henson and the Beach Boys.

Some new films are also heading to Disney+ via Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and through the Star hub internationally, including a brand new film from Searchlight Pictures.

Here’s the rundown:


The Beach Boys

“The Beach Boys” is a celebration of the legendary band that revolutionized pop music, and the iconic, harmonious sound they created that personified the California dream, captivating fans for generations and generations to come. The documentary traces the band from humble family beginnings and features never-before-seen footage and all-new interviews with The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks, Bruce Johnston, plus other luminaries in the music business, including Lindsey Buckingham, Janelle Monáe, Ryan Tedder, and Don Was. Viewers will also hear from the group’s Carl and Dennis Wilson in their own words, plus view a new interview with Blondie Chaplin and hear audio from Ricky Fataar.

This all-new documentary arrives on Disney+ on Friday, 24th May 2024


Jim Henson Idea Man

“Jim Henson Idea Man” takes us into the mind of this singular creative visionary, from his early years puppeteering on local television to the worldwide success of Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, and beyond. Featuring unprecedented access to Jim’s personal archives, Howard brings us a fascinating and insightful look at a complex man whose boundless imagination inspired the world.

This brand new documentary arrives on Disney+ on Friday, 31st May 2024.


The Beatles: Let It Be

This documentary from 1970 has been restored and captures the writing and recording of The Beatles penultimate album, “Let It Be.” The film includes the classic rooftop concert in London, which was the last live show from the group.

This newly restored film will arrive on Disney+ on Wednesday, 8th May 2024.


Queen Rock Montreal

“Queen Rock Montreal” presents Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon at their most exciting and exhilarating. The original concerts, which took place on November 24 and 25, 1981, were arranged specifically to be filmed for a full-length concert film to document their live show.

This classic concert film will be released on Disney+ on Wednesday, 15th May 2024.


Prom Dates

“Prom Dates” follows best friends Jess and Hannah, who made a pact at 13 to have the perfect senior prom. Despite the impending changes that college will bring over the next four years, the two are committed to honouring their prom pact. But with only 24 hours left before the big event, everything falls apart when they break up with each of their dates. Jess and Hannah are left with one night to find new dates and live out their middle-school fantasies.

This original film will be released on May 3rd 2024 on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ around the world.
