The second season of ABC’s huge hit, “Abbott Elementary”, is will be getting a special guest star with Ayo Edebiri joining the cast as Ayesha Teagues, the sister of Janine, who Quinta Brunson plays.

In this workplace comedy, a group of dedicated, passionate teachers—and a slightly tone-deaf principal—are brought together in a Philadelphia public school where, despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life. Though these incredible public servants may be outnumbered and underfunded, they love what they do — even if they don’t love the school district’s less-than-stellar attitude toward educating children.

Throughout the series, Janine has spoken about her sister and the difficult relationship the two have had and will make her first appearance in the upcoming episode, which will air on ABC on Wednesday, 8th February 2023, in the Valentine’s Day episode.

According to EW,  the episode shows Janine and Ayesha connecting in a FaceTime call when Janine calls to wish Ayesha a happy birthday, according and she will be seen in a larger storyline later this season.

Ayo Edebiri has previously starred in the FX series, “The Bear” and Netflix’s “Big Mouth”, plus she is also set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“Abbott Elementary” stars Quinta Brunson as Janine Teagues, Tyler James Williams as Gregory Eddie, Janelle James as Ava Coleman, Chris Perfetti as Jacob Hill, Lisa Ann Walter as Melissa Schemmenti and Sheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara Howard. Quinta Brunson serves as writer and executive producer alongside Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker of Delicious Non-Sequitur Productions. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television and 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios.

The first season of “Abbott Elementary”, along with new episodes from the second season, are available on Hulu in the United States.  The show is also released as a Star Original on Disney+ around the world.
