Last week, Disney released the first two episodes of the new Marvel Studios series, “Agatha All Along” on Disney+ around the world.

This “WandaVision” spin-off series tells the story of the infamous Agatha Harkness, who finds herself down and out of power after a suspicious goth Teen helps break her free from a distorted spell. Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing. Together, Agatha and this mysterious Teen pull together a desperate coven, and set off down, down, down The Road…

Disney has revealed that the first episode of “Agatha All Along” pulled in 9.3 million views over its first seven days on Disney+.

Unfortunately, Disney doesn’t release viewership figures for every new release, so it can be difficult to compare, especially as Disney will often shift around how many days the viewership is over, so it’s hard to do a like for like comparsion.

It’s worth noting that Disney usually only releases viewership data for its shows when they are positive, so had we heard nothing, that would have been more telling.

By comparison, the first episode of the second season of “Loki” pulled in 10.9 million views over three days, while the premiere of “Percy Jackson And The Olympians” pulled in 13.3 million viewers in its first six days. The most recent major release was “Star Wars: The Acolyte”, which drew in 11.1 million views globally after five days for its premiere.

The executive producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Mary Livanos and Jac Schaeffer, who is also the head writer and directed three episodes. Rachel Goldberg and Gandja Monteiro each direct three episodes of the original live-action series.

The first three episodes of “Agatha All Along” are available to stream on Disney+ and a new episode will be released on Wednesday evenings throughout October.

Roger’s Take: “Agatha All Along” was never going to break viewership records for Disney+, but it’s an impressive start for a series about a low level supervillain and hopefully, with the general word of mouth for this series being strong, it will continue to keep viewers entertained and increase viewership over the next couple of months. It’ll be interesting to see how this show compares to other series like DC’s “The Penguin”, when the Nielsen numbers start being revealed in a few weeks.
