Disney’s 20th Century Studios is developing a new film called “Amateur”, that will star Oscar winner Rami Malek and follows a CIA cryptographer who, after his wife is tragically killed in a London terrorist attack, demands his bosses go after them. When it becomes clear they won’t act due to conflicting internal priorities, he blackmails the agency into training him and letting him go after them himself.

Deadline is reporting that Adrian Martinez has joined the cast of the upcoming film and will be playing the role of Carlos, a CIA tech and Heller’s closest friend. Adrian Martinez has previously starred in “Rebecca” and “Renfield”, in addition to “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” and the Disney+ Original live-action reimagining of “Lady and the Tramp”.

“Amateur” is going to be directed by James Hawes, who has found huge success with the Apple series, “Slow Horses”, “Doctor Who” and Netflix’s “Black Mirror”. And it will be written by Gary Spinelli, with Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson producing, with Malek also executive producing the project.

No details have been revealed on when the film will go into production or when it will be released.
