ABC Signature Studios Creating “The Guest List” Limited Series
Disney’s Hulu has won an auction for the rights to turn Lucy Foley’s best-selling book, “The Guest List”, into a series for the streaming service. The new limited series will be created by Liz Tigelaar, who currently has an overall deal with Disney and was the showrunner behind “Little Fires Everywhere” and “Tiny Beautiful Things.”
“The Guest List” will be set on a remote island off a rugged coast, where guests attend an elaborate celebrity wedding. “But with a storm brewing, the picture-perfect affair darkens as the guests and their shared histories dangerously collide — and then the lights go out. And a body is found. As old secrets are brought to the surface, and the mysteries swirl — the question remains, who among these people deserved to die? And who had something to kill for?”
The book was previously picked by Reese Witherspoon book club, similar to both “Little Fires Everywhere” and “Tiny Beautiful Things”.
According to THR, ABC Signature Studios will produce the limited series, which will have eight or ten episodes. The screenplay will be written by Liz Tigelaar, who will executive produce, along with Stacey Silverman and the book’s author. With the writer’s strike now over, work will be able to begin on getting the series prepped for production, though nothing will be able to be filmed until the actor’s strike is resolved.
With ABC Signature Studios creating the series, it’s likely, as with “Tiny Beautiful Things”, that this series will also be released internationally as a Star Original on Disney+, though no confirmation has been made.
