Earlier this year, it was revealed that 20th Television was working on a brand new comedy pilot called “Shifting Gears”, which would star Tim Allen, who will be playing the lead role of Matt, who is the stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop. When Matt’s estranged daughter Riley, who is played by Kat Denning, who is now divorced and forced to move back in with her dad’s house, along with her two teenage kids.

Deadline has revealed that ABC has picked the project up and it will now be turned into a series, which will also star Daryl “Chill” Mitchell as Stitch, Maxwell Simkins as Carter and Barrett Margolis as Georgia.

Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully wrote the pilot and were executive producers on the project. However, they will no longer be working on the project moving forward, so Tim Allen has been looking for a replacement showrunner for weeks.

Other executive producers Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Richard Baker, and Rick Messina. Also executive producing and directing the series is John Pasquin, who has previously worked on “Home Improvement” and “The Santa Clauses”. Both Kat Denning and Tim Allen will also be executive producers on the show.

Now that “Shifting Gears” has been picked up for a series, we should expect to see it released on the ABC linear channel, along with Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States, and released as a Star Original exclusively on Disney+ internationally.

“Shifting Gears” is also the first comedy pilot picked up for the new season and there’s no details on when this new show is expected to begin production and when it might hit our screens.
