Following the huge success of “The Santa Clauses,” “Home Improvement,” and “Last Man Standing,” Disney is once again looking to create a new comedy with Tim Allen, who will both star and executive produce the project.

Deadline is reporting that ABC has ordered a pilot for a brand-new multi-camera sitcom, which is currently going by the working title of “Shifting Gears”.

This new series will see Tim Allen play Matt, a stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop. When Matt’s estranged daughter and her teenage kids move into his house, the real restoration begins.

The new project is being developed by Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Sully, the co-creators of “Duncanville.” They will be executive producers along with Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Richard Baker, and Rick Messina, who have previously worked with Tim Allen on “Last Man Standing.”

If the show does get picked up for a full season, we should expect to see it air on ABC and available to stream on Hulu/Hulu On Disney+ in the US and on Disney+ internationally.

20th Television is creating the project, who also recently worked with Tim Allen on the Disney+ Original series, “The Santa Clauses”.   And should “The Santa Clauses” get picked up for a third season, which would air during the holidays in 2025, Tim could still work on both shows.
