ABC No Longer Moving Forward With ‘Do You Want Kids?’ Series
Back in 2024, it was revealed that 20th Television was working on a new pilot called ‘Do You Want Kids?’ which was about a husband and wife who, in one universe, have a baby and the other do not, and the many ways that huge decision alters their lives.
Unfortunately, its been revealed by Deadline that ABC has passed on the pilot and it won’t be made to a full series. Apparently, ABC executives had a mixed reaction to the pilot and when compared to some of ABC’s other hit comedy shows like “Scrubs” and “Abbott Elementary”, it must not have stood out as a show that could become a hit.
The single-camera half-hour comedy was written and created by Rachel Bloom and her husband, Dan Gregor, who both worked together on “Crazy Ex-Girlgriend”.
It was executive produced by Steve Levitan, who is behind many hit comedy shows, such as “Modern Family,” and “Just Shoot Me.” Steve previously worked with Rachel on the Hulu Original series, “Reboot”.
“Do you Want Kids?” starred Rachel Bloom, along with Rory Scovel, with Trent O’Donnell, directing the pilot.
As with all pilots, these projects are designed to test if the project is good enough to invest time and money into.
