ABC & Hulu Get New SVP Of Unscripted Programming
Disney has revealed that they are making more changes to their television division by hiring Jilly Pearce to become the new SVP, Unscripted Programming at ABC and Hulu.
As part of this new role, she will be responsible for unscripted development and current series programming across Disney’s broadcast network and its streaming business.
Jilly has previously worked was the President of Objective Media Group America and worked on a number of shows including CBS’s “Lingo”, TBS “The Cube”, HBO Max’s “12 Dates of Christmas”, Fox’s “Flirty Dancing”, PBS’ “The Great American Recipe” and Discovery+’s “Great Balloon Bomb Invasion”.
She has also previously worked as the Formats Commissioning Editor at Channel 4, where he oversaw the creation of many shows, including “That’s So Last Century”, “How’d You Get So Rich?” and “Made In Chelsea”
She will report to Rob Bills, who is the EVP of Unscripted & Alternative Entertainment at Walt Disney Television, who said in a statement about the new hiring:
“Jilly’s extensive experience spanning both the network and production sectors brings invaluable insight and leadership to our organization. Her energy and vision will undoubtedly elevate and inspire our work. We are excited to welcome her to our team.”
With Jilly also adding to the statement:
“I’m excited to join Craig Erwich, Rob Mills and their incredible teams at Disney Entertainment Television — the force behind some of the most innovative and compelling shows on television. I look forward to building on their successful relationships and collaborating on entertaining new formats and beloved returning series.”
Roger’s Take: With Disney investing in fewer expensive drama series, it has been having some great success with its unscripted content and bringing in some new blood to look for new ideas is a great way of potentially delivering some new shows in the future.
