ABC Greenlights “Scrubs” Revival Series

Over the past year, there have been plenty of reports of a revival of the hit comedy series, “Scrubs”, and it’s been revealed this week that ABC has given a straight-to-series order to the follow-up show.

The new series will see Zach Braff return, along with Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke, who will all be executive producers on the reboot.

In this new series, JD Dorian (Braff) and Christopher Turk (Faison), scrub in together for the first time in a long time. During their time away, medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way.

Currently, one of the other original actors, Judy Reyes, who played the head nurse Carla Espinosa in the original series, isn’t signed up for the show, but its hoped that that they can schedule some apperances around her role on the ABC series, “High Potential”, to allow her to do both roles.

The original creator of the series, Bill Lawrence, will also be returning as an executive producer, along with Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra, who will return this time as the showrunners and executive producers. Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer will also EP the reboot on behalf of Lawrence’s production company, Doozer.

“Scrubs” is expected to be released during the mid-season of the 2025/26 season, on both ABC and Hulu/Hulu On Disney+ in the United States. Internationally, we should expect to see the “Scrubs” revival arrive on Disney+. The original nine seasons of “Scrubs” are also available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally.
