Just a day after the digital release of the new Searchlight Pictures film, “A Real Pain”, Disney has announced that the new movie will be coming to Hulu and also Hulu On Disney+ in the United States on Thursday 16th January 2025.

The film tells the story of two mismatched cousins called David and Benji, who reunite for a tour through Poland to honour their beloved grandmother. The adventure takes a turn when the pair’s old tensions resurface against the backdrop of their family history.

This new movie has been written, directed and stars Jesse Eisenberg, who has previously starred in “Justice League”, “The Social Network”, “Now You See Me” and the FX series, “Fleishman Is in Trouble”.

It also stars Kieran Culkin, Will Sharpe, Jennifer Grey, Kurt Egyiawan, Liza Sadovy, and Daniel Oreskes. The movie has also been executive produced by Ryan Heller, Jennifer Westin, Michael Bloom, and Kevin Kelly.

“A Real Pain” has been nominated for 4 Golden Globe Awards including Best Picture, Best Actor Jesse Eisenberg, Best Supporting Actor Kieran Culkin and Best Screenplay. The film won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

No international Disney+ release date has been announced yet and it’s unlikely to be for a while in some countries, as it will only be released in some places such as the UK until later this month, which will delay the Disney+ release.

Roger’s Take:  It makes sense that Disney held off on the streaming release announcement until the day after the digital release, in order to maximise the digital sales (though I might have held off a few more weeks on this one!).   I did watch the film yesterday and while I didn’t think it was amazing, when it drops onto Hulu and Hulu On Disney+, I’d recommend you try it and see if you like it and if you find it boring, just turn it off, but you might be surprised.
