20th Television Developing “The Undertaker” Series
Disney’s ABC is developing a brand-new police procedural series called “The Undertaker”, which is based on the popular Swiss show “Der Bestatter”, created by Hartmut Block.
“The Undertaker” will follow Luke Conrad, a former police detective who takes over his family’s funeral home business and can’t resist investigating the deaths that come through the door.
According to Deadline, 20th Television is going to be making the show along with Elevate Entertainment, with Gabriel Garza writing the series. Gabriel recently worked on “The Flash” and “The Winchesters”. It will be directed by Hanelle M. Culpepper, who recently worked with 20th Television on the hit Hulu Original, “Paradise”. They will also both be executive producers along with Alex Cole and Joe Wiggins of Elevate Entertainment, and Michael Wenning.
The original show ran for seven seasons on Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen in Switzerland.
No casting details have been revealed, nor any details on when it might go into production or when it will get released on ABC/Hulu/Disney+. As with any show in development, the creative team may go through some changes and might not necessarily hit our screens.
