“Is This Thing On?” Digital/Blu-Ray/DVD Release Details Announced

Disney has announced details on the home video release of the Searchlight Pictures film, “Is This Thing On?”, which is based on the life of British comedian John Bishop.

As their marriage quietly unravels, Alex (Will Arnett) faces middle age and an impending divorce, seeking new purpose in the New York comedy scene, while Tess (Laura Dern) confronts the sacrifices she made for their family – forcing them to navigate co-parenting, identity, and whether love can take a new form. 

Set against the scene of New York stand-up comedy clubs that Alex visits as a form of therapy, Arnett fearlessly rehearsed for his role by writing and performing stand-up bits in real-world comedy clubs every night for about six weeks. 

This film has been directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Bradley Cooper (A Star Is Born, Maestro), who co-wrote the movie with Will Arnett and Mark Chappell (See How They Run), from a story by Arnett, Chappell, and John Bishop (The John Bishop Show), whose life inspired the character of Alex.

It will be coming to digital platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home, on February 10th 2026, and on physical media formats, such as 4K Blu-ray and DVD, on March 17th 2026.   

We should expect to see the film released on Hulu and Disney+ around the same time as the physical media release, though the international Disney+ release may vary between countries due to the movie getting a slightly delayed release in some countries. 

The home media release will also include new bonus features, including Mic Drop: Making Is This Thing On? – Go behind the scenes as filmmakers and cast open up about the inspirations behind this story of love, loss, and starting again. Get a glimpse into working with a remarkable ensemble and hear about how the team developed their comedy sets.
