Hayes Warner Joins FX’s “The Shards” Cast
20th Television is developing a brand new show for FX called “The Shards”, which is based on a serialised audiobook by Bret Easton Ellis and is being created by Ryan Murphy, who is behind many other well known shows such as “American Horror Story” and the upcoming “All Fair”.
“The Shards” is a dark coming-of-age tale with semi-autobiographical facets for Ellis. Set in Los Angeles in 1981, the story follows a 17-year-old version of Ellis during his final year at the elite Buckley prep school. Upending the character’s world is the arrival of a mysterious new student, Robert Mallory, whose unsettling presence coincides with the activities of a serial killer known as The Trawler.
The new series will star Igby Rigney, who previously starred in “The Fall of the House of Usher”, and will play the role of Ellis. Homer Gere, who starred in “The Agency” and is the son of Richard Gere, will play the role of Robert Mallory. Graham Campbell will play Thom Right, and Kaia Gerber, the daughter of Cindy Crawford, who previously starred in Ryan Murphy’s “American Horror Stories”.
Variety has revealed that Hayes Warner has joined the cast and will be playing the role of a character called Debbie.
Hayes is more known as a pop star and has had hits such as “Predator”, “Breadcrumbs,” “Shut Up” and “Dead to Me”. She also wrote some music for Netflix’s “The Barbie Chronicles” and Disney’s “The Descendants” franchise.
20th Television and Ryan Murphy Productions are creating the show for FX. Murphy, Ellis and Winkler will executive produce alongside Nick Hall, Kathleen McCaffrey and Brian Young. The new series will be directed by Max Winkler.
No release details have yet been announced. As with other FX shows, expect to see it released on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally.
