“Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord” Series Coming To Disney+
During a Lucasfilm Animation panel at the Star Wars Celebration event in Tokyo, Japan, a brand new animated series called “Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord” was announced.
The new series is set after the events of the Clone Wars and sees Maul plot to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire.
It was also revealed that Sam Witwer will be returning to provide the voice for the character, having played the character in both “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars Rebels” shows.
Fans attending the panel in person also got an early look at the series’ new animation style with an in-room-only sizzle reel.
“Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord” is currently in production and will debut on Disney+ in 2026.
Roger’s Take: After the success of “The Bad Batch” and “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”, it’s not a huge surprise to see Disney returning to more animated shows, especially as they refocus the live-action division on theatrical movies, opening the door for animation to fill the void. Plus more of Darth Maul is never a bad thing, especially after the events of “Solo: A Star Wars Story” left the character in limbo.
